”Man in the Glass”
… Missing less and less! 📸
On the occasion of The Venice Glass Week, the Venetian organization Zuecca Project Space will present the exhibition “Man in the Glass” by Marcin Gierat.
The exhibition, curated by Marica Denora and Alessandro Possati, will be held at the Squero Castello, from 5 September to 10 October 2020.
The exhibition, unique of its kind, sees the use of the photographic technique called the “ Collodio Umido ”, it is the first form of negative intended as we know it today. The first discovery or development of this technique was around 1850.
A portrait made with this technique is a unique piece of art, which comes from experience.
A real timeless treasure, that’s why techniques like this go into somehow encouraged and not forgotten.
Using a camera dating back to the 19th century, Gierat imprints his photographs directly on glass plates, rather than film.
Three glassworks were chosen and each created their own plates, using the iconic colors and techniques of characteristic realization of his own production.
Here is the portrait of Massimiliano Schiavon on a photograph at the Collodio Umido on Murano glass type Aventurine!
